The second-hand marketplace Users Express Anger About Size Changes

Members of the platform have expressed outrage due to a modification that led to products showing incorrect sizing.

The second-hand shopping app has altered its sizing categories for women's and children's garments but did not contact all shoppers about the modification.

Social Media Backlash

Numerous buyers and vendors are expressing on platforms saying Vinted listings now show a different size category versus the original listing as a result of the reclassification.

The platform stated the revised method more closely matches similar services.

The platform has recommended to examine their items and update the measurements by hand when needed, which has left users frustrated.

Size Classification Modifications

Before the change, the sizes had both numerical and alphabetical indicators, such as S/8 or M/10.

The revised method features an alphabetical indicator and numerical range like S/UK 8-10.

For certain items, the measurements have been reclassified - such as a large size was previously a 12 but is now a UK 16-18.

Member Experiences

Frankie Bridger, who creates plus-size fashion videos, stated the update "complicates both purchasing and selling".

"Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," as the platform currently indicates.

Another user, based in Glasgow, stated items she posted on Vinted with size 14 labels were displaying on the service as measurements 20-22.

"Should someone sized 20-22 purchase these they may become frustrated," she stated.

Necessary Adjustments

Charlotte Lunn, from Derby, said she had been left angered due to the update requiring manual adjustment the sizes on "every single listing".

"This situation is especially annoying, because of my ongoing medical condition and Vinted sales have been crucial following partial earnings loss," she explained.

Service Background

The platform boasts over 100 million shoppers, with 18 million British users.

It has become a favored option versus similar marketplaces including eBay and Depop.

This isn't the first time where an unanticipated change on the platform has faced criticism: previously, the platform withdrew an update to its shipping options following member complaints.
